What Lagna actually is
Lagna (also called the Ascendant) is the sign of the zodiac that was rising on the eastern horizon at your exact moment of birth. It shifts roughly every two hours, which is why your birth time matters so much for a Vedic chart — two siblings born on the same day but a few hours apart can have completely different Lagnas, and therefore very different lives.
